Based on the Universal Pictures movie released in 2000, Billy Elliot The Musical tells the story of a young boy in a small mining town in the UK who discovers his true passion lies in ballet, not the boxing ring. With the help of his eccentric ballet instructor Mrs. Wilkinson, Billy finds the courage to defy the expectations of him from both his town and his family to follow his dream. His father, going through his own struggles, forbids Billy to do so but in the end, realizes doing what is best for his son is ultimately what is best for him and their town.
