In 1971, Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman created the Folk-rock duo Aztec Two-Step. Within a year, they were signed to Elektra Records for their debut, going on to record three more on RCA, all within the 1970s. Their partnership lasted 47 years, during which their career accolades included the New York Music Award for Best Folk Album and appearances on Late Night with David Letterman, The King Biscuit Flower Hour, and World Cafe Live. Neal retired in 2018, and Rex and his wife Dodie Pettit are now the heart and soul of the expanded Aztec Two-Step 2.0, recapturing the multi-layered dimension of ATS’s original recordings, offering an old familiar feeling, yet with a new and exciting spin on the ATS classics.
Scott E. Moore will open the show.
