Loverboy came rockin out of Canada in the mid 1980’s lead by singer Mike Reno with such chart toppers as “Workin for the Weekend”, “Turn me Loose”, “Hot Girls in Love”, and “Queen of the broken hearts”. They are joined on this show by the writers of quite possibly the catchiest pop song of all times “Like about you”…The Romantics.
Wilson Phillips first appeared in 1990, flaunting a harmony-rich sound that helped send three singles from their first album, "Hold On", "Release Me", and "You're in Love", to the top of the Billboard charts. Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips comprise the vocal trio, whose sudden success was matched by an equally impressive pedigree. The two Wilson sisters had grown up in California with their father, Beach Boy bandleader Brian Wilson, and often made appearances on his albums.
Mickey Hart is best known for his nearly three decades as an integral part of an extraordinary expedition into the soul and spirit of music, disguised as the rock and roll band the Grateful Dead. As half of the percussion tandem known as the Rhythm Devils, Mickey and Bill Kreutzmann transcended the conventions of rock drumming. Their extended polyrhythmic excursions were highlights of Grateful Dead shows, introducing the band’s audience to an ever-growing arsenal of percussion instruments from around the world.
With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate 38 SPECIAL with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.
Clannad have given a unique voice to modern Irish music. They have combined a deep love of traditional strains with a bold approach to writing and recording. Their legacy is a hugely impressive collection of albums, touching on folk, rock, ambient, jazz and world music. Many of these records have featured lyrics in their native Gaelic tongue, while others have been performed in English. Either way, those vocals have plugged directly into the popular imagination.
