Mercer County high school students are invited to participate in a talent competition hosted by the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, in affiliation with the Youth College program of Mercer County Community College (MCCC). The Annual Talent Hunt Competition is open to ninth through twelfth graders.
The competition will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 12 p.m. in Kerney Hall at MCCC's Trenton Campus, 102 N. Broad Street, Trenton. The event is free and open to the public. The deadline for entry is Monday, March 18.
Competition categories include classical instrumental, classical vocal, contemporary instrumental, contemporary vocal, dance (ballet, tap or modern), dramatic interpretation, and visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture or photography).
The winner of the competition will receive $100 and an expense-paid trip to Baltimore, Md., to participate in a multi-state competition where the winner will receive additional prizes. MCCC's Youth College prepares Trenton students from grades 6 through 12 for academic success. Grant-funded programs include Educational Talent Search, SMILE/GEAR UP, Upward Bound and the Urban Academic Academy, which provide college preparation, tutoring, counseling, academic advisement and enrichment.
