The City of Union City, Mayor Brian P. Stack and Board of Commissioners have appointed the Union City Philharmonic Orchestra as the City's honorary orchestra. The appointment was made at the City's last Commissioners meeting held this past Saturday, April 28, 2012.

The Union City Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly Hudson Philharmonic Orchestra - HPO) was established in Union City, NJ, November 2011 with a very specific vision: To make a positive impact in Union City and its larger community, primarily through exhilarating, inspiring, and quality classical music performances and education. Union City Philharmonic Orchestra was co-founded by four passionate visionaries: David Jeong (Music Director/Conductor), Jahye Kim (Assistant Music Director), Yedeun Park (Orchestra Manager), and Soo Park (Director of Education and Outreach). UC Philharmonic is committed to sharing their musical talents to inspire and to inform the importance of arts and music for a more holistic cultural development of our society. Recently, UC Philarmonic was designated as the "Honarary Classical Orchestra of Union City" and is presented and supported by Union City Mayor and New Jersey Senator, Mr. Brian Stack and the Commissioners of Union City.

David Jeong is a young conductor, composer and pianist of towering aspirations. As the Music Director and Principle Conductor of Union City Philharmonic Orchestra, David wishes to share his compositions and vision to bring "Music of Hope and Inspiration" through UCPhil's innovative and memorable performances. David especially hopes to cultivate young musicians who will use their roles to send positive and inspiring messages to their local and worldwide communities. His debut albums as a pianist, published by Sony Music and Universal Music of Korea, especially exhibit the warmth and sincerity of this talented conductor. David is currently the Music Director of Youth Symphony for United Nations (YSUN), a prestigious international orchestral music project founded by the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation (FAF) to debut this Summer 2012 at the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters, NY. As a composer and pianist, David completed his studies at the Moscow Gnessin Special Music School and Tchikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Russia and completed both B.M. (Piano Performance) and M.M. (Conducting) degrees at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. Recently, David was also invited to conduct the Ditto Orchestra on a concert tour in Korea and has been acclaimed in Russia,Hungary, Austria, Canada, and NBC for his exceptional compositions and piano perfor

David and everyone involved with the orchestra are deeply honored about the designation. They look forward to promoting classical music on a local and National level, as well as representing the City of Union City and the State of New Jersey with honor and distinction.
