The second annual Ubuntu Awards: New Jersey's 30 Under 30 will commence at 5pm on November 18, 2017 in the Great Hall of 15 Washington St. in Newark, NJ. Presented by Them Cloud Kids (TCK), the Ubuntu Awards will focus on recognizing distinguished men and women from 6 categories who embody the South African ideology of Ubuntu and have a significant presence and impact in the state of New Jersey. The Ubuntu Awards is a platform for individuals and organizations from various backgrounds to network, collaborate, and enjoy the accomplishments of one another.
This years Ubuntu Awards will feature a spectacular opening number, stellar performances from diverse artists, food by Celebrity Chef, Chef Nikko, and one of a kind surprises. Attendees will hear from some of our amazing nominees on how they have impacted their communities and have the opportunity to network in the company of change makers. Last years Ubuntu Awards was sold out with over 300 guests and the "Honorary Cloud Kid", Nyeeam "King Nahh" Hudson, has since been featured on TV and released books and cd's. This is the first award show of its kind to not only honor individuals based on their work ethic and impact, but on the practice of Ubuntu in their everyday lives. The Visual & Sound, Love Is Love, "Help Us, Help Us", Community Mogul, Innovation, and Health & Wellness award categories represent the diverse skill set among nominees and the services they offer to positively impact New Jersey communities.
The Ubuntu Awards serves as a fundraiser to help Them Cloud Kids live out their mission to unite, uplift, and empower through the instruction and practice of Ubuntu. Proceeds will help sustain their community development initiatives focused on literacy, fighting hunger, arts & culture, open forums, and education implemented through their 5 core programs: Culture Class, "Help Us, Help Us" Community Feeding, Future Cloud, Cloudy Thoughts, and Peace On the Streets. Them Cloud Kids have been able to engage over 1,000 New Jersey youth ages 6-18, 5,000 college aged students and garnered over 400 community services hours.
