Get your holidays rocking at A Rockin' Holiday Doo Wop Celebration with six of the best doo wop groups at The Paramount Center For The Arts on Saturday, December 11th.
Six well known doo wop groups will perform in this unforgettable event featuring Charlie Thomas' Drifters, Fred Parris & The Satins, The Legendary Teenagers, The Chiffons with original lead singer Judy Mann and Cleveland Still & The Dubs. The evening will be hosted by Johnny Z of The Rock 'n Roll Revival Radio Show.
Since The Drifters were founded in 1953, there have been a number of singers who have come and gone, but there is only one singer whose voice is on all of The Drifters greatest hits, Charlie Thomas. Don't miss Charlie Thomas' Drifters performing their greatest hits, including "There Goes My Baby", "Save the Last Dance for Me" and the classic best seller "Under the Boardwalk."
Fred Parris and The Satins are best known for their song, "In the Still of the Night", which remains the definitive doo wop love song, and has frequently topped New York oldies giant WCBS-FM's fan survey for greatest record of all time.
Launched into instant stardom by the success of "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?", which now stands as one of the key records by which the doo-wop style is defined and remembered, The Legendary Teenagers suddenly found themselves in movies and on package tours at home and overseas. In 1956 and '57, five other singles made the R&B Top Ten - including "The ABC's of Love".
