The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong, New Jersey is proud to open its 2014 - 2015 season with Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID. This production runs October 3rd through the 26th with performances Friday evenings at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 PM. Based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID, has music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a book by Doug Wright. This production is under the direction of Stephen L. Fredericks, The Growing Stage's Executive Director with musical direction by Laura Petrie and Choreography by Jillian Petrie.
Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID, takes place in a magical kingdom under the sea, where the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to live in the world above. It's a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID will capture your heart with irresistible songs including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."
Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID features the talents of eight professional equity performers in the cast. Emily Cara Portune of Jersey City, who recently played the role of Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical, returns to our stage as Ariel; Anthony Crouchelli of New Milford and Maggie Graham of Fanwood portray Prince Eric and Ursula. Also in the cast are PJ Schweizer of Doylestown, PA as Scuttle, Wayne Hu of East Hanover as King Triton, Jenna Morris of Hoboken, Lyndsey Brown of High Bridge and Nikole Rizzo of Highlands as Mersisters. In total, there's a cast of 25 professional and local artists performing in this production.
