The pop-up, one-day-only Art Effect exhibit on Saturday, December 10 at BravinLee programs (526 W. 26th Street) in Chelsea will introduce New Yorkers to a transformative new direction in art education and the nation's first network of contemporary art schools.

Featuring 25 works by 11 New Jersey art students aged 12-17, many of whom will be on hand for the exhibit, Art Effect reflects the mission of One River School of Art + Design to "develop the next generation of Basquiats and Warhols," as recently noted by the New York Times.

Since One River School was launched in 2012 in Englewood, NJ ("one river" over from Manhattan), its innovative art programs and exhibits have introduced suburban kids and adults to exceptional, creative learning experiences that are typically only available in major cities. "Our interactive process focuses on current concepts, and celebrates the most important artists and themes of the last 50 years," said Founder and CEO Matt Ross. "Simply, our proprietary method delivers an experience that changes people's lives."

Ross, the former Founding CEO of School of Rock, will open another One River School in January 2017 in Allendale, NJ, and will soon announce franchise agreements for more One River School locations to open in other parts of the U.S.

For Art Effect, the 11 featured teen students were selected from 300, based on quality of work and level of commitment to personal growth. The reward for their commitment was for their work to be exhibited in three major US cities: Boston (Oct. 8 at Dorchester Art Project), Philadelphia (Nov. 5 at Savery Gallery) and New York City (Dec. 10 at BravinLee programs).

"We wanted to test the 'effect' we could have on motivated young artists by creating an audacious goal, and challenging them to make the best artwork of their lives," explained Ross. "As an educator, I've seen that we have helped them cultivate new ideas and techniques that will serve them for their lifetime, and they have produced some very impressive new artwork in the process."

During the Art Effect exhibit, Ross will provide curator presentations and discuss the One River School concept, while its young artists will talk about their work and immersive experiences at the school.

Exhibit hours for Art Effect will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 10 at BravinLee programs, located at 526 W. 26th Street #211, New York, NY 10001, phone (212) 462-4404.
