The Theater Company (TTC) is excited to present its first musical of our new season - THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. This delightful, comic operetta, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert, is directed by veteran TTC director/adaptor/actor Clara Barton Green. Great for all ages, performances will be November 4-7, 11-14 & 18-21, 2010.

THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, or The Slave of Duty, is the story of Frederic, who, having completed his 21st year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates. Upon his release he meets and falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and shortly thereafter finds out that due to a trick clause in his apprenticeship, he has actually not been released from his indentures. Will Frederic betray his new-found love in favor of his duty? And what of the pirates who are plotting revenge against the Major-General for having cheated them out of plunder?

"I've always loved PIRATES!" notes director Clara Barton Green, "It's far and away my favorite Gilbert and Sullivan because it's so irresistibly dashing. We've trimmed down the show just a bit and gotten the Baroque heaviness of the late 19th century out of it and made it a little leaner, sassier and sexier. "Joining Clara is John Bronston as Musical Director who is the Associate Artistic Director of re:Directions Theatre Company in Manhattan , has many composer/writer credits, and is the associate/sub musical director for the national tours of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE and FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE.

The cast of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE is a nice mix of TTC regulars and fresh faces including: Megan Buono, Megan Corcoran, Jennifer Connor, Katie Horn, Ashley Gorham Johnson, Tatum Kenney, Joe Neglia, Christine Orzepowski , Don Pflaster , Marvin Riggins, Jr., Steven Slatten, Caley Vickerman and Branan Whitehead.
