Black Box Studios continues to serve the NJ arts community with their March programming, which kicked off with their fourth edition of Improv Bowl, and added performances of family favorite, The Tale of the Dragon's Tail.

This month's repertoire includes readings of classics by Bertolt Brecht, and the first Uncensored Adolescents at the Black Box Performing Arts Center.

BBS March Performance Schedule:

THE TALE OF THE DRAGON'S TAIL

Final two performances: Sun, Mar 13 at 1:30am & 1:30pm

In The Tale of the Dragon's Tail, a prince and princess meet and fall in love at first sight, but right as they are about to plan their nuptials, two evil and very incompetent wizards cast a spell on the princess that convinces her the only way she can marry the prince is if he brings her the tail of a ferocious dragon.

Follow the prince as he embarks on a wild journey to break the spell, and meets along the way lots of colorful characters, including a funny map seller, an ogre, a mysterious old lady, a giant and eventually the dragon with the tail that can break the spell.

An interactive adventure musical full of action, fun and dance for the whole family.

THE BRECHT READING SERIES

Mother Courage and Her Children: Sat, Mar 12 @ 8:30pm.

Drums in the Night: Sat, Mar 19 @ 8:30pm.

Playwright Bertolt Brecht will be the focus of two consecutive Saturday night readings at BBPAC. To start, the more well-known classic Mother Courage and Her Children will be read on Saturday, March 12th at 8:30PM. Next, the lesser known Drums in the Night will be read on Saturday 3/19 at 8:30PM. Both readings will feature numerous professional performers and high-level student performers from BBS' recent/current productions including Haia Bchiri, Emily Briggs, Sam Cancelarich, Huey Esquire, Odelia Fried, Yonatan Gordon, Brody Greif, Danny Hoffman, Leora Hyman, Ellen Krischer, Margaret Leone, Liz Mandelkern, David Meyers, Beth Selter, Brian Shanblatt, Lisa Tiger, and others.

Tickets: $10 at the door.

UNCENSORED ADOLESCENTS @ THE PIT LOFT*

Sun, Mar 20 @7:30pm

Uncensored Adolescents is an improv group with a revolving roster of Black Box Studios' top-level theater students from various towns throughout Northern New Jersey, ranging in age from 13-18. Each month, they come together to perform in front of an in Manhattan and for the first time will come to BBPAC. All the while, they also take BBS' highest-level teen theater workshops where improv is a major component of their work for the stage.

Tickets: $5.00 at the door.


Based in Teaneck, NJ, BBS offers collaborative theater workshops and performance for adults, teens, and children. Cutting-edge productions and innovative programs for students of all ages, experience levels, and backgrounds run year-round. BBS teaches using an improv-based method that BBS' founders developed during their years working in theater in New York City. BBS also teaches acting classes and runs drama clubs in private and day schools in Bergen County and the Greater New York area. BBS offers private coaching in acting, singing, and musical theater, and has a popular summer intensive theater programs for kids and teens.
