New Jersey
Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with The
Gipsy Kings feat. Nicolas Reyes &Tonino Baliardo. The
Gipsy Kings return to NJPAC with an irresistible blend of traditional flamenco, Western pop and Latin rhythms, including music from Savor Flamenco, their 2013 GRAMMY Award winner for Best World Music Album. For 30 years now, the acclaimed
Gipsy Kings have captured the world's imagination, ever since the release of their self-titled debut album - a record that became a global phenomenon, certified gold and platinum. Since then, this party-starting ensemble has toured virtually non-stop, and sold almost 20 million albums worldwide, all the while retaining the same lineup of virtuoso musicians.
Led by founders and songwriters Nicolas Reyes (lead vocals) and Tonino Baliardo (on lead guitar), the electrifying ensemble is composed of flamenco, salsa and pop musicians from Arles and Montpellier (in the south of France), most descended from gitanos, Berber-Moroccan and Spanish gypsies who fled Catalonia during the 1930s Spanish Civil War. Performing in the Spanish language (with a distinctly Andalusian accent), the group is credited with bringing Catalan rumba, a pop-oriented music distantly derived from traditional flamenco music, to new audiences around the globe. Thursday, June 29, 2017 7:30 PM at Prudential Hall. Get your tickets now at NJPAC.org or 888.GO.NJPAC
