Surflight Theatre, celebrating its 65th Anniversary Season of Broadway at the Beach presents the musical thriller Jekyll & Hyde from June 18 through July 6.

Broadway's Bart Shatto (Hands on A Hard Body, Dracula, The Civil War, LES MISERABLES) returns to Surflight following his acclaimed performance last summer as Jean Valjean in LES MISERABLES, and heads the cast in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde.

The Surflight production features Lianne Marie Dobbs as Lucy, Whitney Winfield as Emma Carew, Charles West as John Utterson and Tom Treadwell as Sir Danvers Carew, Amanda Fannon, Tom DeMichele (Spider/Lord Savage), Jacob January,Morgan McCann (Simon Stride), Brian Martin, Amelia Millar, Ryan PJ Mulholland, Tom Orr (Lord Glossop), Grant Snuffer,Kelly Swint, and Janet Wiggins.

Conceived for the stage by Tony and Grammy nominee Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, the four-time Tony-nominated musicalJekyll & Hyde features a book and lyrics by two-time Oscar winner, Emmy winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Leslie Bricusse and music by Wildhorn. The haunting score features some of Wildhorn's most famous songs including "This is the Moment," "Someone Like You" and "In His Eyes."

Surflight's production features scenic design by Steven Lee Burright and Gateway Playhouse, costume design by Stacey Jeungling, lighting design by Benjamin Weill, sound design by Mark Keeler. Amy Hadam is production stage manager.

Jekyll & Hyde is based on the novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, about a London doctor who accidentally unleashes his evil alternate personality in his quest to cure his father's mental illness.

Following a 30-city tour, the original Broadway production opened at the Plymouth Theatre April 28, 1997, and earned four Tony Award nominations. The production starred Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder and Christiane Noll. After 1,543 performances and featuring such replacements as Sebastian Bach and David Hasselhoff in the title role, the production played its final performance Jan. 7, 2001. A Broadway revival starred Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis, Deborah Cox and Teal Wicks at the Marquis Theatre in 2013 following a national tour.

Surflight Theatre is located at 201 Engleside Avenue in historic Beach Haven, NJ. Performances of Jekyll & Hyde are Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm, with matinees Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $45 by calling (609) 492-9477 or online at www.surflight.org.
