State Theatre Center For The Arts Announces 2010 FREDDY Scholarships and Awards

New for 2010 is $10,000 per year scholarships offered by Centenary College of Hackettstown, NJ. The scholarships are open to all students participating in a theatre program at a FREDDY© participating school that is awarded a 2010 FREDDY© Award. Students must be accepted to the theatre program at Centenary College.

Available once again are the DeSales University Theatre Department Scholarship, the Muhlenberg College Department of Theatre & Dance Scholarship, and the annual Express-Times Student Achievement Award, which includes a paid internship to The Express-Times.

The State Theatre FREDDY© Awards program has been recognizing and rewarding exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in high schools in Lehigh and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania, and Warren County, New Jersey since 2003. The 2010 program will once again feature 29 schools.

Nominations for 2010 will be announced live on WFMZ Channel 69 Noon News on Thursday, May 13th.

The 2010 FREDDY© Awards program will culminate in a 3-hour television awards ceremony on Thursday, May 27th from the State Theatre. Produced in partnership with WFMZ Channel 69, the show will be broadcast live from 7 PM - 10 PM on WFMZ and on the web at www.wfmz.com.
