3sPA's Summer Youth Theater Collaborative is a thrilling, full-time, 4-week program offering children ages 12 and up the chance to participate in rigorous theatrical training. Musical direction by Argine Safari (acclaimed music and choir teacher at Pascack Valley High School) is extremely rigorous but promises astounding results which truly boosts vocal confidence. Intensive direction by Ellyn Essig (River Vale) including character development work and exciting theater exercises offers performance breakthroughs that participants will not soon forget as they continue to hone their skills in acting. First-rate choreography by Vittoria Fronte (Hillsdale) adds another level of professionalism that participants will be proud of for years to come.
And 3sPA's multi talented performers hail from towns throughout northeast Bergen County and represent area schools including Bergen Academies, Holdrum and George White Middle Schools, Park Ridge H.S. and Pascack Valley H.S.. These young actors are backed by a supportive team of college and high-school-aged interns as well as professional production staff from Bergen County.
Catch Me If You Can, with a book by Terrence McNally and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, is based on the hit film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Set in the early 1960s, this is the incredible, true story of Frank Abignale, Jr. a precocious teenager who runs away from home seeking fame and fortune. With just his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank (played by Calvin Rezen, Hillsdale) successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer - living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams (played by Julia Moore, River Vale). But when Frank's lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty (played by Ben Daniel, River Vale), Carl pursues Frank across the country to make him pay for his crimes. Performances are Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1 at 7pm, and Sunday, August 2 at 1pm at Pascack Valley High School, 200 Piermont Avenue, Hillsdale, NJ.
