Final rehearsals are underway for Skyline Theatre Company's upcoming production of tick, tick...BOOM! by RENT composer Jonathon Larson. The show will run for six performances November 7th-9th and 14th-16th, 2014, at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in the Fair Lawn Community Center in Fair Lawn.
NY director
Trey Compton is putting stars
Nick Orfanella,
Lauren Palmeri and Danny Arnold through their paces as they prepare for their November 7th opening. "Rehearsal is my favorite part of the process," says Compton, who makes his directorial debut with Skyline on this production. "It is where we really create the show together as artists." Compton most recently directed a production of I Love a Piano at The Theater Barn in The Berkshires and has worked Off-Broadway on Yank! and White's Lies (starring
Betty Buckley).
New York's
Nick Orfanella, who is making his Skyline debut, stars as Jon, a role based on the composer of the show. Co-starring as Susan is New York actress
Lauren Palmeri, who is originally from Bergen County. She returns to Skyline having starred as
Fanny Brice in last season's Funny Girl. Danny Arnold, also originally from NJ and making his Skyline debut, is playing Jon's best friend Michael.
tick, tick... BOOM! is the autobiographical musical about and by
Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning composer of RENT. It is the story of an aspiring composer who questions his life choices on the eve of his thirtieth birthday. First performed as a solo rock monologue by Larson in 1990, it was later revamped by playwright
David Auburn as a three-actor piece and premiered off-Broadway in 2001.
