South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) presents SMALL TOWN, BIG TALENT. 'Small Town Big Talent' is an all-day celebration of South Orange/Maplewood arts and community. Many of today's top artists join hands to help benefit SOPAC. The celebration starts June 19th at 11:00AM with a Community Sing-Along. Over 1,000 local residents of all ages are anticipated to experience a plethora of performances, workshops, panel discussions, and more. From a morning family-friendly show featuring indigenous music of Africa, to an intimate afternoon conversation with Columbia High School alumni Zach Braff and AJ Calloway, to a glamorous evening with performances by several stars of stage and screen.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center today announced the addition of singer/songwriter/actress Ms. Lauryn Hill to its Small Town, Big Talent benefit scheduled for the evening of June 19, 2010. Ms. Hill is a founding member of The Fugees and is an accomplished solo artist whose album The 'Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' (1998) received five Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, a Billboard Award, a Soul Train Award and an MTV Music Award. Since 2006, SOPAC has been serving as the premier performing arts center in the region. SOPAC offers innovative artistic and cultural experiences for diverse audiences in an intimate, inviting environment. The multidisciplinary arts center hosts a variety of live performances, community events and education programs for all ages. To further expand its offerings, SOPAC has a partnership with the Juilliard School of Music to present Juilliard @ SOPAC-a series featuring upcoming musicians from the acclaimed conservatory. SOPAC is also a home for Seton Hall University Arts Council's performances, including Classical Concert Series, Jazz N' the Hall performances, and Seton Hall Theatre productions.
