The South Camden Theatre Company Board of Directors made some changes to the times we produce our seasons. Season 13, Celebrating Women Playwrights now opens in February, 2018 instead of September 2017.

"Our twelfth season had a great deal of dramatic content," states Ray Croce. "I felt it was time to give our patrons a chance to laugh-out-loud. That's why we've added this bonus show, a regional premiere, to our season 12. After producing four shows, one each by Eugene O'Neill, Quiara Alegria Hudes, Beth Henley and Aaron Posner, adding David Lindsay-Abaire as a bonus show was a real no-brainer. Lindsay-Abaire's writing is Pulitzer Prize winning, excellently crafted and highly creative."

This "comedy-drama" is considered a show to treasure. David Lindsay-Abaire's rippingly funny Ripcord is a deeply satisfying and vastly entertaining story of two women of a "certain age" thrown together by a cosmic force. Lindsay-Abaire's tastily sweet-and-sour Ripcord is great fun and solidly crafted. When the play gets serious, it's genuinely moving.

RIPCORD's director is Dan Hickey. Previously seen on our stage in Broken Glass, Dan is excited to be directing his hand-chosen cast including actors, Virginia Barrie (Abby), Susan Dewey (Marilyn), Elyse Emmerling (Colleen), Justin Prince Moy (Derek), Frank Halbiger (Benjamin) and Steve Harding as (Scotty).

"The South Camden Theatre Company's Board of Trustees is also excited about giving our audience a chance to have a hardy laugh at the Waterfront South Theatre. Having produced 12 seasons of dramas ranging from Tennessee Williams, Eugene O'Neill, Bruce Graham, Clifford Odetts, and August Wilson, it feels great to be providing an opportunity for our patrons to focus on two hysterically funny characters in such a funny and heartfelt situation. We feel that Ripcord was the perfect choice made by our artistic director," says Robert Bingaman, Board President. "Our 2018 Season beginning in February was also chosen by Ray and will Celebrate Women Playwrights. We'll be producing 3 regional premieres, one world premiere and one show by two-time Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Lynn Nottage. There will be excellent theatre on our stage directed by top-notch talent from September 2017 and throughout 2018. After all, theatre is a place to stir the soul."
