The Theater Company (TTC) is kicking off its new season with a spirited evening of ghosts and spooky mayhem this Halloween with "Scary Stories on the Waterfront." In conjunction with the Hoboken Historical Museum, TTC will be presenting candlelight ghost stories outside of Sybil's Cave (Frank Sinatra Drive, Hoboken).

Producing Artistic Director David Zimmerman notes, “The stories will be based on various ghost stories from different cities, but we are taking special care to include Sybil's Cave and some of the stories that surround that location.” Sybil’s Cave, which was reopened on October 22, 2008, was once a well-known tourist spot. In the mid-19th century, New Yorkers would come to Hoboken to drink water from the cave, which was believed to have therapeutic properties. The cave is said to be the inspiration for Edgar Allen Poe's "The Mystery of Marie Roget," based on the real unsolved murder of Mary Rogers. So, peer into the past as you look into the cave and let your imagination run wild with the stories that still haunt there!

"Scary Stories on the Waterfront" will hold two performances on October 31, 2009 at 6pm & 7:30pm. Tickets are $13 and are available in advance at the Hoboken Historical Museum or at the gate at Sybil’s Cave on Halloween evening (cash or check only). Refreshments will be served. Sybil’s Cave is located on the waterfront along Frank Sinatra Drive, across the street from the Castle Point Skate/Skateboard Park (1101 Sinatra Dr., Hoboken).

Originally named the DeBaun Players, The Theater Company is based in Hoboken, NJ, and has been presenting plays since 2000. In June 2007, TTC was awarded Associate Membership with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance - a consortium of professional, not-for-profit theatres in New Jersey that holds the unique position of being the only statewide arts service organization focused solely on professional theater. Additionally, the company is also a founding member of the Hudson County Theatre Alliance. TTC's mission is to produce theatrical productions that are accessible to people of every age, involving a diverse group of people on stage and off.
