The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey today announced The Winter's Tale the final production of its 2008 season, to run December 3-28, 2008. The production will be directed by Shakespeare Theatre resident director Brian B. Crowe. The Theatre also announced Broadway veteran and Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli will play Salieri in its 2008 production of Peter Shaffer's Amadeus. Cuccioli was nominated for a Tony Award for his title role in Jekyll and Hyde. At The Shakespeare Theatre, he has appeared in Julius Caesar and Macbeth among many others.
The Shakespeare Theatre 2008 Season begins with Shakespeare's uproarious comedy The Comedy of Errors directed by Stephen Fried (April 30-May 18). Next is Peter Shaffer's thrilling Amadeus directed by Joe Discher and featuring Robert Cuccioli (May 28-June 22). Shakespeare's epic King Lear follows, directed by Bonnie J. Monte and featuring the renowned actor of stage and screen Daniel Davis in the title role (July 2-27). Noel Coward's comedy of manners Private Lives, directed by Paul Mullins, ends the summer portion of the season (August 6-31). The Fall portion of the 2008 Season begins with Tennessee Williams' American classic A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Bonnie J. Monte and featuring Broadway veteran Laila Robins as Blanche DuBois (September 10-October 5). One of Shakespeare's most popular plays, Romeo and Juliet, follows, directed by David Kennedy (October 15-November 16). The season concludes with Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, directed by Brian B. Crowe (December 3-28).
The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Outdoor Stage production will be the hysterically funny riff on Shakespeare, The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and directed by Jason King Jones (June 18-July 20). The Outdoor Stage is located at the Greek Theatre on the campus of the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown.
