Mercer County Community College opens its Kelsey Kids Series for 2011-12 with "Rapunzel," the whimsical tale of a girl who has never had a bad hair day. The award-winning Kaleidoscope Theatre presents this enchanting musical adaptation of The Brothers Grimm classic on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
The inspiration for the recent movie "Tangled," "Rapunzel" is the story of a beautiful heroine with magnificent and lengthy locks who is imprisoned in a tower by a comical and bumbling witch. Much is in store as Rapunzel meets her true love and is rescued by her prince with the help of audience members in this highly-interactive adaptation.
Based in Rhode Island, Kaleidoscope Theatre was founded in 1977 to create and perform educational plays and workshops for youngsters from elementary to high school. Touring from Maine to Texas, the company has earned numerous honors, including the Rhode Island Theatre Achievement Award and the Best of Rhode Island Award from Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.
Tickets are $10 for all ages. Free parking is available next to the theater. Tickets may be purchased online at www.kelseytheatre.net or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333.
