The Princeton Triangle Club and its Board of Trustees are proud to celebrate the rich 125-year history of Princeton's Famous Triangle Show with a full weekend of events. This special TRIANGLE WEEKEND offers the perfect opportunity to experience a true Princeton tradition where it all began.
For 125 years, the Princeton Triangle Club has created an original musical comedy every year - written and performed by students, directed and choreographed by professionals - to showcase Princeton's greatest student talents in one of the University's most well-known and best-loved traditions. From F. Scott Fitzgerald to Jimmy Stewart to Brooke Shields to Ellie Kemper, Triangle has a long roster of wildly talented performers, composers, lyricists, book writers, musicians, technicians and producers. Long before LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and KINKY BOOTS, Triangle's tradition of an all-male drag kickline delivered a show-stopping, hilarious romp, chronicled in the book "The Longest Kickline" by Don Marsden (Princeton class of '64).
It's all Greek to Triangle in the club's newest original production (and the kick-off to the weekend),GREECE'D LIGHTNING!,where a can-do baker from Greece's smallest city-state, "Micros", tries to win the world's first ever Olympics! But how can she compete when her sponsor is the God of the Underworld, she is falling for Zeus's prize athlete, and sports haven't even been invented? From Icarus's flight to Oedipus's bedroom, join the greatest cast of characters Western civ has ever known. Ending with Triangle's famous all-male kickline, Greece'd Lightning! will get you to drachma like it's hot!
On November 20, over 50 alumni spanning seven decades will take the McCarter stage to reprise their original roles in classic Triangle numbers. The show will kick-off with the "Mother of Triangle Overtures," featuring 56 current and former pit orchestra members playing Triangle tunes through the ages.
Throughout the weekend (and through May 2017), the exhibition "A Lotta Kicks: 125 Years of the Triangle Club" will be on view at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library, telling the story of the Triangle Club from the Club's founding, to the days of F. Scott Fitzgerald, to today.
