The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is preparing to send out invitations for this season's tango-themed gala-Under the Stars in Buenos Aires-featuring the return of violinist Daniel Rowland and his virtuosic performance of music by the tango master Astor Piazzolla with musicians of the PSO. The fundraiser includes cocktails, dinner, dancing, and live auction, and will be held at Jasna Polana on Saturday, April 8, 2017.
Music Director Rossen Milanov looks forward to chatting with long-time supporters and newer fans of the orchestra at the cocktail hour. Dancing will be accompanied by an authentic tango band, complete with bandoneon, and Daniel Rowland's passionate, energized playing. Mr. Rowland led the PSO's September concert, a performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons with Piazzolla's tango-infused Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.
PSO Board of Trustees Chair Emeritus David Tierno is Honorary Chair of the black tie PSO gala, partnering with Gala Chair Stephanie Wedeking to ensure the success of one of Princeton's most eagerly anticipated evenings.
The annual gala is the PSO's most important fundraiser. According to Mr. Tierno, it provides "over 15% of the PSO's operating budget, enabling it to flourish as Princeton's only resident professional orchestra and to be a premiere resource for classical music performances and education in Central New Jersey."
Ms. Wedeking is confident in meeting the gala's fundraising goals with a night to remember, filled with "stirring tango, friends dressed to-the-nines, fabulous auction items, and a romantic venue. I can't imagine a better way to spend a spring evening."
