Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, Talley's Folly follows the unlikely sweethearts Matt Friedman and Sally Talley. After a lifetime of believing they'll never truly belong in the world around them, Matt, a Jewish immigrant, has worked up the courage to ask Sally, a Gentile, for her hand in marriage. During a moonlit night of arguing, joking, and wooing in a dilapidated Victorian boathouse, Matt and Sally reveal their secrets and consider their future in this charming and tender waltz of a love story.
"It's very gratifying to be once-again coproducing with The Bickford and Oldcastle Theatres, both of which we collaborated with on
Richard Dresser's The Last Days of Mickey and Jean," said John Pietrowski Artistic Director of Playwrights Theatre. "This is a beautiful, funny, and ultimately, very moving, play that has a lot to say about our current social and political situation. We have an excellent pair in
Eli Ganias and
Amy Griffin. I'm looking forward to the extended run of the play to see where the two of them go."
