The Brooklyn Bridge is part of our everyday world-seen in movies, in photos, or casually passed over on a taxi ride-yet many do not know the fascinating story of how it got there.
Roebling: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge brings to the stage the human drama surrounding the herculean construction effort and immense personal challenges faced by the Roebling Family in their commitment to building the Brooklyn Bridge. In constructing this true American Icon, John Roebling (Rob Lanchester) and his son Washington (Kevin Palardy) persevered against all odds, despite political opposition and personal health tragedies. But when adversity called into question the success of the project, it is Emily Roebling (Mariel Rosati) who challenged the accepted role of women to become the culminating force in completing the bridge. This is truly a story of innovation, dedication, perseverance and family.
Audiences will meet a remarkable, forward-thinking family on the cutting edge of the Industrial Revolution. Roebling shows how this project foreshadowed the 20th century in the boldness of the project itself, the revolutionary construction techniques developed by John Roebling and in the recognition of the vital, unconventional role that his daughter-in-law, Emily Roebling, played in the completion of this enormous effort.
The play also features performances by Philip Rieschick, Dan Hickey, Jennifer Huckleberry, Kevin Hallam, Chris Scheid, Dennis McGuire, Jordan Castro and John Russell.
Performances are Friday November 11th and Saturday November 12th at 8 pm and Sunday, November 13th at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $20 for Adults; $18 for Children & Seniors.
