The Players Guild of Leonia, like most community theater groups, often refers to its members as "family." However, when it presents the hilarious musical, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change," beginning tonight, October 18th, the production literally will be a family affair. Meet the cast and creative team below!

Edward Feldman of Leonia, founder of a New York City law firm, is the show's music director. His son, Seth (Englewood), a partner in the firm, has one of the leads. His daughter, Brooke (Leonia), who holds a master's degree in arts administration from Indiana University, is the assistant director.

As the oldest continuing community theater in New Jersey, The Players Guild-founded in 1919-has a long history of multi-generational members. For example, Allison Miller, (Leonia) who is one of six females in this musical, is the daughter of Laurette Miller (Leonia), one of the Guild's costumers. The show's choreographer and co-producer Beth Parrillo (Ridgewood), is the daughter of the late Beverley Blood, who for decades performed lead roles in many Guild productions. She is also president of the Guild, as were both her parents Beverley and Fred. Her husband, Vince Parrillo (Ridgewood), a professor of sociology at William Paterson University, is the show's director. "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" marks the seventh time this director and music director have collaborated in those roles on a show.

Other cast members are Irene Hort (Fort Lee), Dana Kemp (Garfield), Dan Giordano (Palisades Park), Amy Levine (Teaneck), Andrew Reyes (Bogota), Claudia MacDermott (Teaneck), Frank McDonnell (River Edge), Suzanne Renaud (Dumont), and Owen Sheridan (Leonia).

This hilarious musical revels in the theme of love and relationships, while paying tribute to those who have loved and lost, and to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance. The play's tagline is "Everything you ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit." Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car, and some pick-up techniques of the geriatric set. Book and Lyrics by Joe Di Pietro. Music by Jimmy Roberts. Original Direction by Joel Bishoff. Directed by Vince Parrillo.

Performances run tonight, October 18th thru November 3rd. Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm at The Civil War Drill Hall Theater, 130 Grand Avenue, Leonia. Tickets $24. seniors and students $20. 201-947-9606 or leoniaplayers.org for reservations and information.
