Teen Drama presents the New Jersey premiere of the Broadway musical LYSISTRATA JONES. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you a first look at the show!
Teen Drama, the high school theatre education company, is now enrolling Kearny students ages 14 to 19 for its popular summer musical theater education program. The West Hudson Arts & Theater Company is once again co-sponsoring the program.
The 6-week series, designed especially for teens, runs from June 22 to August 1, Mondays through Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. At the conclusion of this year's program, students will perform in a full production of the Broadway hit musical "Lysistrata Jones." This will mark the shows New Jersey Premier production. Teen Drama launched in 2010 to accolades and acclaim from community members, local and state officials, and representatives from the New Jersey State Council of the Arts. Past productions have included the Tony-award winning "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", "Xanadu", "Urinetown", "Young Frankenstein" and "The Addams Family".State Certified staff in their field teach all classes, and students receive individual attention, constructive feedback, and the support need to achieve their personal goals. Sarnoski has been a cheerleading coach, choreographer and producer of several teen musicals.
Cost of the program is $175. Space is limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis. Registrants must be a resident of Kearny. The Athens University basketball team hasn't won a game in 30 years, but when spunky transfer student Lysistrata Jones dares the squad's fed-up girlfriends to stop "giving it up" until their boyfriends win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end.
