Passage Theatre presents Team Sunshine Performance Corporation (TSunPCo’s) in Punchkapow for two performances on March 17 and March 24 at 8pm at the Mill Hill Playhouse as part of the 11th annual Solo Flights Festival.
An original live show inspired by action movies, comic books, anime, video games. TSunPCo’s company members Benjamin Camp, Makoto Hirano, Alex Torra and a band of "cameo" performers present a play about fantasy violence and how much fun it can be.
Inspired by action movies, comic books, anime and video games, Punchkapow is a sweaty, comedic look at powerless people in search of their superpower, press notes state. Everyday life, it often seems, is filled with a niggling tedium, a lack of clear rules and with games of personal negotiation and compromise. In a fantasy world, simplicity reigns, good and evil are clearly defined and at the end of the day, justice wins out... every time. TSunPCo explores how individuals wrap themselves in a cocoon of disillusion and fantastic distraction, taking a leap from the mundane to the imagined and then slipping, joyfully, into the violent. Punchkapow promises physical acting and fights as two dudes explore their brutal relationship in a world of ninjas, villains and epic battles large and small.
About Punchkapow, Passage Theatre producer Kacy O'Brien said, “It’s awesome to see to actors on stage who have so much fun and I can’t wait to share it with everyone who comes to see it at Passage.”
