What does it take to be a real boy? Youngsters will get the answers in the classic tale of "Pinocchio," coming to Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre. The award-winning traveling theater company Virginia Rep On Tour presents this enchanting new musical for two shows only as part of the Kelsey Kids Series on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on MCCC's West Windsor Campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Based on the novel by Carlo Collodi, with book and lyrics by Bruce Craig Miller and music by Michael Strong, the show takes young audiences on a journey with Pinocchio, a wooden puppet carved with love by the kindly old woodcarver Geppetto. When his puppet suddenly springs to life, Geppetto is surprised and delighted, ready to treat Pinocchio like a son and give him a place to call home. But the mischievous Pinocchio has other ideas and sets off on a series of fantastical adventures. Will he escape the conniving Fire Eater and the Giant Dogfish, and get what he realizes he wants most - to be a real boy?
Previously known as Theatre VI, Virginia Rep celebrates over 40 years as a nonprofit, professional theater.
