In 2012, the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the legendary glamour ship Titanic on her maiden voyage, OPTC will produce the Broadway musical Titanic opening Wednesday July 11th, winner of 5 Tony awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score.
Traveling this fabulous ship on its maiden voyage meant a stunning crossing among the very rich and famous of the time, a chance to go to the New World to find your fortune, to follow your destiny or to partake of a social extravaganza among friends. When sadly at the end of the day, all found out that money and class and all the dreams in the world meant nothing to the power of the sea when it overtook the sadly crippled “unsinkable” oceanliner. The spirit of hope, integrity and admirable character taught us lessons of humility and peace. To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, this regional production is serving as a workshop for the upcoming fall tour of the musical produced by Boebe Productions.
