Hundreds of New Jersey's young theatre talent will join together at Harrington Middle School in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey on May 5th for a day of musical theatre performances, workshops, guest clinicians and fun. The celebration will be lead by the creative team at iTheatrics (founders of the Junior Theatre Festival, Broadway Jr Collection, authors of the musical theatred education book "The iTheatrics Method") and celebrate school theatre programs for elementary, middle, and high school as well as community theatre groups.
iTheatrics' mission is to ensure young people everywhere have access to quality musical theatre programs by:
· Adapting Broadway musicals including Aladdin Jr., The Jungle Book Jr., High School Musical Jr., The Lion King Jr., and many more, for performance by elementary, middle and high school students.
· Building intuitive teaching resources that guarantee educators have a successful experience producing Broadway Jr. shows.
· Creating study guides and innovative educational programs to enhance productions.
· Creating new musicals for family audiences including The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka and James and the Giant Peach, The Ant and the Elephant, and Jim Henson's Emmet Otter.
· Continually researching and developing the absolute best practices that allow educators to create successful, cost-effective and sustainable musical theater programs.
School-based, extracurricular, and community theatre programs for youths 8-18 are brought together to celebrate their theatrical talents and be fully immersed in theatrical learning for a day with leaders in musical theatre education nationally. Last year's celebration included DMR Adventures (Charlottesville, Virginia), Moorestown Theater Company, Cumberland Regional High School, Curtain Call Performing Arts Center and Woodruff School ACE Music.
Participation fees are $75 registration fee and $25 per student (that includes a Tshirt and pizza lunch) and $20 for any chaperones or family members attending the celebration. Each group is offered two complimentary director/accompanist registration spots only.
