New Jersey Repertory Company Announces Fall 2017 Arts Education Classes

New Jersey Repertory Company is excited to offer an interesting, informative and inspiring array of classes at our newly acquired West End Arts Center located at 132 West End Avenue, Long Branch on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons for five weeks, October 17th through November 18th.

This fall, which marks NJ Rep's third season of education programming, offers opportunities to learn new skills, conquer creative challenges, sharpen artistic expertise and expand cultural horizons with consumate professionals in their fields. Improvise like a pro, write a play, paint with watercolors or explore the creative collaboration behind iconic literary works.

Tuesday Evening Courses include:

IMPROVISATION with Actor/Director, Wendy Peace, allows beginning-to-experienced participants to explore the fundamentals of improvisation in a safe, supportive environment. Using fun, easy games, exercises and hands-on activitities this course will spark your creativity, stimulate your imagination, and inspire spontaneous play! Tuesdays, 7:00PM - 9:00PM, October 17 - November 14. Tuition for five two-hour class sessions is 200.00.

BEGINNING PLAYWRITING with Award-winning Playwright, Joel Stone, is designed especially for aspiring writers and beginning playwrights, concentrating on techniques for effective storytelling, with an emphasis on style, format, and 10-minute play structure. Develop your unique writer's voice in a creative, nurturing environment. Bring your story to life! Tuesdays, 7:00PM - 9:00PM, October 17 - November 14. Tuition for five two-hour class sessions is $200.00.

Saturday Afternoon Courses include:

THE ART & CRAFT OF SUCCESS with Pulitzer Prize nominee Playwright, Julie Gilbert, is a unique series of interactive talks that examine the creation, collaborative process and formative journey of literary greats, Giant, and Show Boat, from page-to-stage-to-screen. Ms. Gilbert, great-niece and biographer of novelist and playwright, Edna Ferber, offers particpants an intimate, insider perspective using first-person writings, personal photos and film clips. Saturdays, 11:00AM - 1:00PM, October 21 - November 18. Tuition for five two-hour sessions is $200.00.

VISUAL ARTS SAMPLER with acclaimed Artists, Myke Karlowski and Jimmy Leslie, will focus on a different medium/technique every week including drawing, mixed media and watercolor painting. This course offers participants the opportunity to express themselves in a brand new way, brush up old skills or simply play with pros in a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere. Saturdays, 12:00PM- 3:00PM, October 21- November 18. Tuitrion for five three-hour class sessions is $150.00, plus the cost of materials.
