For more than half a century, New Jersey Ballet has thrilled audiences from Bergen County to Cape May with top quality professional ballet. NJ Ballet has given hundreds of thousands of adults and children their first introduction to ballet, inspiring in many a lifelong love of the arts. Over the years, New Jersey Ballet has brought the magic of dance theatre to countless students, little children, senior citizens and adults of all ages.
One of New Jersey Ballet’s most Popular Productions for Young Families, Cinderella is a two-act romp through the well-known fairy tale in which the hours of the clock come to life and dance, a Fairy Godmother and beautiful Fairies of the Four seasons inhabit the enchanted garden, and the pumpkin turns into a coach before your very eyes! Splendid sets and costumes, glorious dancing, New Jersey Ballet’s hallmark “storyteller” narration make sure even the littlest theater-goers can keep up with ease.
New Jersey Ballet: Ballet with a Latin Beat II, just in time for Cinco de Mayo, is a fresh new celebration of Latino culture with works representing Cuba, Brazil and Mexico. The evening will feature two works by Cuban-born Pedro Ruiz, whose works are staples of Ballet Hispánico in New York. The program features Suite Huasteca, a vivid portrait of sun-drenched Mexico; Danzón, a contemporary interpretation of the old style of Latin Ballroom dancing; Tamoia, a journey into the heart of the Amazon rainforest; Guajira, a loving memoire of life in the Cuban countryside and Para Dois, a pas de deux inspired by the lively street life of Rio. Viva Ballet Latino!
