The ShowRoom, Asbury Park's only independent cinema, will welcome Christopher and Rosemary Riddle, son and daughter of American music legend Nelson Riddle, for a special screening of "The Great Gatsby" starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow, on Saturday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m.
The ShowRoom will screen "The Great Gatsby," the day before the 82nd Academy Awards as a tribute to Riddle winning his 1974 Oscar® for Best Music, Scoring Original Song Score and/or Adaptation. That same year, Riddle was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his numerous, award-winning collaborations with performers such as Frank Sinatra, Linda Ronstadt, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and more. Riddle also composed and arranged music for well-known TV shows such as "Batman," "Newhart" and "Married with Children" as well as movies, including "Ocean's 11," "Lolita," "Lil'Abner," "The Untouchables" and many more.
Since Riddle's passing in 1985, Christopher and Rosemary Riddle have worked diligently to ensure that his American-music legacy remains strong. At The ShowRoom, they will offer the audience a glimpse into Riddle's past dealings with stars, his award-winning career, and the joy he spread through his music. The brother-sister team will also answer audience questions before inviting viewers to Tim McCloone's Supper Club, where they will host "The Nelson Riddle Show: Studio Sessions". A prix-fixe dinner is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., a 17-piece orchestra conducted by Christopher Riddle will revisit the original studio arrangements Nelson Riddle created for numerous singers.
