NJTV, New Jersey's public television network, has launched The Arts Project with Maddie Orton, a new monthly series dedicated to New Jersey's arts scene. Touring the Garden State for all things arts, The Arts Project with Maddie Orton takes a behind-the-scenes look at New Jersey's crown jewels and hidden gems. Hosted by NJTV News Arts Correspondent Maddie Orton, The Arts Project covers music, theater, dance, visual art, and the artists who make it all happen. In the state that brought the world Springsteen, Houston and Streep, you never know who - or what- is next.
Passionate about the arts and a Jersey native, Orton has worked in many facets of the field, from advocacy to performance and has worked with artists, arts organizations and supporters from across the state and throughout the country. In her time with NJTV News with Mike Schneider , she has covered music, theater, film, dance, visual art, and arts education, interviewing such luminaries as Steven Colbert, Steven Van Zandt, Alan Menken, and Brian Stokes Mitchell. From Art All Night in Trenton and the Jersey Moves! Dance Festival to GlassWeekend at WheatonArts and Poetry Out Loud State Finals, Orton is dedicated to finding - and highlighting - the big and small art events and accomplishments in New Jersey for her series and the news program. It is priority content at NJTV.
"NJTV is dedicated to bringing the arts to television," said NJTV's General Manager John Servidio. "Quite frankly, if public television doesn't do it, no one else will. So we're actively seeking partners to help fund more great arts programming, from Maddie Orton's news reports to performance series like the American Songbook at NJPAC."
