NJTV Announces Live Coverage of November 5th Elections

On the heels of its recent NJ Gubernatorial Debate broadcast and coverage of the Special Senate Election this month, NJTV, New Jersey's public television network, announces its coverage of the Garden State's general elections on November 5th which will broadcast and stream live on TV and the web.

The network's coverage begins Tuesday, November 5th with a live, special edition of its weeknight news program NJTV News with Mike Schneider at 6pm ET on NJTV and Thirteen (check local listings). The program, anchored by Managing Editor Mike Schneider, will feature election results and segments on statewide legislative and the gubernatorial race.

Following a 7:30pm newscast encore, NJTV kicks off its live election broadcast coverage, NJDecides 2013: Election Night, at 8pm through 11:30pm. The three-and-a-half hour live program will include ongoing election results news and race analysis from expert panelists. NJTV will also be providing a live election update at 10:56pm on Thirteen and WLIW.


"The entire tri-state area keeps an eye on New Jersey's political scene, especially this year's gubernatorial race," said NJTV's General Manager John Servidio. "We take pride in NJTV Being a go-to resource for the region during important events like these general elections, and in order to serve our entire broadcast area, we're extending poll updates to our affiliate stations Thirteen and WLIW."

Mike Schneider will anchor the NJDecides 2013: Election Night broadcast, periodically joined by Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron and field correspondents David Cruz, Desiree Taylor and Lauren Wanko as well as political experts. Among those slated to appear: Roger Bodman (Senior Partner, Public Strategies Impact); Julie Roginsky (President, Comprehensive Communications Group); Brigid Harrison (Professor, Political Science and Law at Montclair State University) and PatRick Murray (Director, Monmouth University Polling Institute).

Throughout the night, NJTV will use news trucks and remote interview units to provide live election coverage and content for broadcast and the web. The NJTV website,njtvonline.org, will provide a livestream of broadcast coverage, up-to-the-minute polling information, a race results page and more. Additionally, NJTV's election coverage will be livestreamed on the website of WWOR.

Using the hashtag #NJDecides, constituents can stay engaged throughout election night, following tweets from field correspondents and news posts. There and on Facebook, everyone is welcome to share perspectives on local issues and observations from the polls.

This year's NJTV NJDecides 2013 coverage has included a live U.S. Senate Democratic Primary Debate hosted by the network in August, the NJ Gubernatorial Debate broadcast from Montclair State University on October 15th and Special Senate Electioncoverage on October 16th. Additionally, NJTV livestreamed the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for state Supreme Court nominee Judge Faustino Fernandez-Vina on its website October 17th.
