Music Director Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra present Mozart's Requiem with a quartet of accomplished vocal soloists and the Montclair State University Singers.
The Orchestra performs the Requiem March 21-24 in Newark, Princeton and New Brunswick on a program that includes Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony and Edward T. Cone's Elegy. Soprano Christine Brandes, mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer, tenor Gordon Gietz and bass Robert Pomakov also join the Orchestra for the Mozart work.
"Mozart's Requiem seemed fitting on a program so close to Easter," Lacombe says. "The Requiem was unfinished [at the time of Mozart's death], and that led me to Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony. The concert opens with Cone's Elegy, an introspective piece about life and death that fits in nicely with this program."
