New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with Tango Buenos Aires: The Spirit of Argentina. Direct from Buenos Aires, this sensual, soulful performance brings together an expert company of musicians, vocalists and dancers in a passionate celebration of the Argentinian tango and the most prominent figure in its history, French-Argentine singer, songwriter and composer Carlos Gardel.

An undisputed hero of Latin American music and dance, Gardel composed and recorded literally hundreds of classic tangos, many written with his lyricist and longtime collaborator, Alfredo Le Pera. Many of those seductive compositions find their way into this spectacular performance, which is also set to music by the legendary Astor Piazzolla and other heroes of the tango.

Sometimes playful, sometimes dramatic, and always sensuous, the fast and furious dancers of Tango Buenos Aires have become known internationally as one of Argentina's greatest cultural exports, and their "swirling, fast-paced tapestry of movement" (The Washington Post) is regarded as one of the world's most authentic representations of the traditional art of the tango. See Tango Buenos Aires: The Spirit of Argentina Thursday, October 26, 2017 7:30 PM at Prudential Hall. Get your tickets now at NJPAC.org or 888.GO.NJPAC.
