The 17th Annual Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) announces that NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR PHIL MURPHY will join other VIPs including SECRETARY OF STATE OF NEW JERSEY TAHESHA WAY, celebrities, filmmakers and fans at the Festival's elegant star-studded RED CARPET GALA NETWORKING EVENT & COCKTAIL PARTY ON Friday March 29th at 7:00 p.m. in Asbury Park's majestic Convention Hall. Governor Murphy is a champion of the New Jersey film community, as he recently RESTORED the state's $75-million Film & Digital Media Tax Credit Program, which had been dark for several years. Signed into law by the Governor this past July, the Program is booming and now has an added element, a tax credit to incentivize diversity. As a result of the Governor's efforts, numerous television and film productions have already made NJ their home, and the state reportedly has dozens more set to film here in the next several months. GSFF takes place in the spectacular seaside town of Asbury Park this week from Wednesday, March 27th through Sunday, March 31st at multiple local venues.
Friday night's attendees will have an opportunity to meet the Governor and Secretary of State, mingle with organizers, filmmakers and celebrities, while celebrating the Festival's exciting 17th event! GSFF promises an incredible evening of glitz, glamour and entertainment. The weekend's first film screenings of "The Ring" and opening feature "The Bird Catcher" will follow at The Paramount Theater. This DAZZLING FIVE-DAY EVENT celebrates the best in international and local cinema and will feature exciting networking opportunities, instructive hands-on workshops, an open talent casting call, screenplay competition winner reading, intriguing and informative panel discussions, and entertaining and fun parties - all in addition to the over 245 fabulous films from around the globe screening throughout the Festival. This is also the first year that GSFF will present acting awards, with winners to be announced at the Sunday Awards Banquet.
Now in its 17th year, the Garden State Film Festival, is New Jersey's premier independent film festival and was founded to promote the art of filmmaking on all levels by showcasing a wide variety of film, video and animated works, as well as provide educational programs in the creative arts to the public by industry leaders.
