Mile Square Theatre, Hudson County's leading professional theatre, continues its 2018 season with Christopher Durang's hilarious comedy about love, life and family, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Durang drops a mixed bag of Chekhovian characters in contemporary Bucks County in this comic tour-de-force. Relentlessly silly and smart, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike deservedly won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play.
"We resume our 2018 season with Durang's hugely entertaining play." says MST Artistic Director Chris O'Connor. "I'm thrilled with this cast, led by MST Associate Artistic Director Mark Cirnigliaro. We are delighted to have Barbara Pitts join us, who is well-known for her work with Tectonic Theatre. She's done a couple of 7th Inning Stretch plays with us, and she's now playing Sonia in this remarkable play. Also in the cast are several usual suspects at MST; Annette Hammond (Circle Mirror Transformation) and Annie McAdams (Core Values and God of Carnage). And, as Vanya, this marks my first time on the MST mainstage since Scapin in 2004!"
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike begins performances on September 12 and runs till October 7. Opening night is September 14.
The creative team, led by director Mark Cirnigliaro (The Net Will Appear), includes MST resident scenic designer Matthew J. Fick (The Net Will Appear, Driving Miss Daisy), MST resident costume designer Peter Fogel (Betrayal, 39 Steps), and lighting designer Elaine Wong (Circle Mirror Transformation).
