The Princeton Symphony Orchestra is celebrating 10 years of Broadway POPS! with a concert starring Michael Feinstein, master of The Great American Songbook, on Saturday, February 8, at 8 pm at Richardson Auditorium on Princeton University Campus. The concert continues a tradition of quality pops programming featuring top Broadway artists accompanied by the PSO, and will be conducted by Sam Kriger.

Mr. Feinstein will perform popular favorites ranging from The Lady is a Tramp to When I Fall in Love. He'll also take over conducting from Mr. Kriger and lead the PSO through symphonic works such as the American in Paris Overture and Dancing in the Dark. The program will also include works by George and Ira Gershwin. Mr. Feinstein became intimately acquainted with the Gershwins' music when, as a young man, he assisted Ira Gershwin in archiving their prolific body of work. Mr. Feinstein is a consummate entertainer who knows how to please with popular song favorites from stage and screen. The multi-platinum, two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy-Award nominated performer is widely credited with preserving The Great American Song Book, a conceptual collection of American standards from Broadway and Hollywood's Golden Age.

Guest conductor Sam Kriger possesses a highly inventive harmonic sense and style and his wide range of musical skills make him much in demand as a musical director, conductor, arranger, and pianist. He enjoys conducting and performing on the piano at Pops concerts, and has appeared with the Detroit, Hartford, Milwaukee, Minnesota, New Jersey, Reno, San Diego, St. Louis, and Syracuse symphony orchestras. Beyond the stage, he's been a vocal coach for Disney's Feature Animation division for 20 years, and has served as musical director for Michael Feinstein, Mickey Rooney, Anna Maria Alberghetti, Shirley Jones, Kay Starr, and Lynda Carter.

Michael Feinstein is an ideal choice for the PSO's 10th anniversary Broadway POPS! concert as he epitomizes all that a great stage entertainer should be. In previous years, PSO Broadway POPS! shows have spotlighted works by composers such as Alan Jay Lerner, Frederick Loewe and Oscar Hammerstein, and have also paid tribute to Judy Garland and songs made famous on the silver screen. Tony Award winners such as Barbara Cook , Judy Kaye, and Jeff Keller have also graced the stage.

This 10th Anniversary PSO Broadway POPS! concert is sponsored by long-time supporters Nina Wainwright, Debora and John Haines, Edward E. Matthews, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Paneyko, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood W. Phares, Judith McCartin Scheide, and Mr. and Mrs. John Steffens.

Tickets to the February 8 PSO Broadway POPS! concert are $90, $70, $55, and $35 and are available online at www.princetonsymphony.org and by phone: (609) 497-0020.
