The Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce 2016 Business Education Series continues Tuesday, August 2, 2016 with a seminar titled "For the Arts Professional: What Kind of Insurance Do You Need to Protect Your Creative Assets?" presented by Edward van Eckert and Lawrence McCullough of the Edward van Eckert Farmers Insurance Agency.

The seminar takes place from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Old Franklin Schoolhouse, 491 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen. There is no fee, but attendees must register by contacting the Chamber at (732) 548-2964 or metuchenchamber@optimum.net.

Van Eckert and McCullough will overview the variety of insurance coverages available to assist creative industry personnel - writers, dancers, stage and musical performers, teachers, promoters and producers, visual and media artists of all genres - in protecting their equipment, events, work spaces and intellectual property.

In addition to being licensed insurance professionals, both presenters are well-versed in business issues faced by the arts entrepreneur.

Edward van Eckert spent four decades as a filmmaker, photographer, photojournalist and marketing creative services director serving a variety of clients including the U.S. Navy, Mellon Financial Corporation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Mercer HR Consulting, The Hazeltine Corporation and The Image Group.

Lawrence McCullough holds a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology and is a veteran administrator of arts and non-profit community ventures, supplemented by a parallel career as a musician, composer, journalist, playwright and festival presenter with original drama commissions for the National Constitution Center, Grand Central Centennial and Kennedy Center ArtsEdge Program, soundtrack appearances on five Ken Burns PBS films and a live concert at the White House for President Bill Clinton.

Old Franklin Schoolhouse is a historic multi-use community venue and the new home of Transformations Gallery. The gallery hosts a free reception for the exhibit Outside In on Friday, July 22, from 7:00-10:00 p.m., featuring 18 local artists.

Founded in 1950, the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a wide range of destination events to attract visitors and businesses to the Borough including the Metuchen Country Fair, Junebug ArtFest, Cruise Nights, Spring Street Fair, Metuchen Farmers Market, Holiday Tree Lighting, Townwide Garage Sale and Memorial Day, Halloween and Winter Festival parades.

The Chamber also organizes member networking, showcase and educational activities that highlight new ideas and services in the ever-evolving Central Jersey marketplace. For more information about Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce and its events and services, see www.metuchenchamberexchange.com.
