The Mayor is being honored for his fortitude in not only supporting but championing the economic and social impact arts and culture has played in Newark's cultural history.
The concert, hosted by World Gospel Association President and Founder Dr. Albert J. Lewis, will see city and local artists offer music, dance, and song performance. "The Group Fire," "The Mighty Men of Valor," and the Newark Symphony Hall Gospel Chorale will headline the showcase. Six regional churches, four from Newark, are affiliated with the event. Pastor David Wright, son of the late Gospel legend Rev. Dr. Timothy Wright, will serve as co-host.
The "When Praises Go Up! Gospel Showcase" is an annual production created by Newark Symphony Hall, whose goal is to provide a platform for Gospel artists and growing ministries in Newark and other communities. This event is not a competition, but an evening of praise and worship that showcases local talents.
