INTO THE WOODS JUNIOR is a young performer's version of the famous Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. It's a funny musical comedy that takes familiar fairy tales and twists them into a new story.
"Playwrights Theatre is committed to providing quality educational activities to students of all ages," said Artistic Director John Pietrowski. "The opportunity to work on challenging and beautiful music with trained teachers is an excellent way for youngsters to spend the summer. We are grateful to the Borough of Madison for including arts programming in the mix of vacation recreational activities, and thankful to the Madison Board of Education for providing the support necessary to put up a show. Audiences will be in for a treat."
INTO THE WOODS JUNIOR is the third co-production between The Madison Recreation Department and Playwrights Theatre, which has been located in Madison for 27 years. The production is also supported by the Borough of Madison's Jim Burnet, and Director of Recreation, Zach Ellis, and the Madison Board of Education provides significant support in permitting the use of the High School Auditorium facilities.
