On Sunday, June 13, 2010 the Madison Arts and Culture Alliance (MACA) will sponsor the "Madison Artist Studio Tour." This event will take place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, rain or shine. Twenty-four artists, photographers and fine craftspeople who live and/or work in Madison will be participating in this event. The Madison Artist Studio Tour, organized to introduce and promote the visual artists in the borough, will feature the participating artists' work either in their studios or in exhibition spaces throughout the Rose City.
The June 13th studio tour will be launched at 10:00 am with a community-based mural on Waverly Place. This project will be spearheaded by Madison resident Bob Richardson.
Beginning Friday, May 28, 2010, maps designating each artist's location will be sold for five dollars each. They can be purchased at the following Madison locations: Drip Café on 34 Main Street, Rose City Framemakers on 20 Waverly Place, and Sages Pages Bookstore in the Staples Mall at 250 Main Street and the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts on 9 Main St. (the corner of Main St. and Green Village Rd.). They will also be sold on Waverly Place, near the community-based art project, on the day of the studio tour.After the tour, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm there will be a post-tour reception at The Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery, Annunciation Center, College of Saint Elizabeth. This event is free and open to the public.
Also beginning June 4th, the Madison Public Library will feature an exhibition of representative Madison-based artists in the Chase Room at the library. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, June 4. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of June. The library is located on 39 Keep Street, near the Madison YMCA.
