Monty Python's SPAMALOT, the madcap Tony Award-winning musical continues Surflight Theatre's 65th Anniversary Season from today, July 30, through August 24. Directed by
Charlie Siedenburg and choreographed by
Jenn Rapp, with music direction by Henco Espag, Monty Python's SPAMALOT will have a press opening on July 31 at 8pm.
Monty Python's Spamalot is an outrageous musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the 1975 film classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
Featuring music and lyrics by the Grammy-Award winning team of

John Du Prez and book by
Eric Idle, Spamalot tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their madcap quest for the Holy Grail. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls, flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers?

The cult classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail hit film screens in 1975, starring
Graham Chapman,
John Cleese,
Terry Gilliam,
Eric Idle,
Terry Jones and Michael Pali. Monty Python member
Eric Idle (who played Sir Robin in the film) adapted the film for the Broadway stage as Monty Python's Spamalot. Directed by
Mike Nichols, the Broadway production opened at the Shubert Theatre, March 17, 2005. Starring

Michael McGrath, the production received a record 14 Tony Award nominations and won 3 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
Surflight's production will feature scenic design by Steven Lee Burright, costume coordination by Stacey Jeungling, lighting design by Benjamin Weill, and sound design by Mark Keeler. Amy Hadam is production stage manager.
