On December 17, the Union County Performing Arts Center in association with Pixie Dust Players will be hosting Home for the Holidays, an evening of song and celebration featuring the music of musical theatre lyricist and composter Stephen Schwartz. It will be a gala and cabaret benefit for Youth Programming at UCPAC.
Additionally, it was announced that vocalist Kelli Rabke and actor Richard Kline will be special guest performers at the event.
Stephen Schwartz is an American musical theatre lyricist and composer who has written hit musicals such as Godspell, Pippin, Children Of Eden, and Wicked. He has contributed lyrics for a number of successful films, including Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt, and Enchanted. Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, three Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards, and has been nominated for six Tony Awards. He received the 2015 Isabelle Stevenson Award, a special Tony Award for his commitment to serving artists and fostering new talent.
West Orange, NJ native Kelli Rabke is best known for Broadway performances as the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Eponine in LES MISERABLES. Most notably, she was cast as the original Yonah in Paper Mill Playhouse's production of Children of Eden, a two-act musical with music and lyrics by Schwartz. Richard Kline is known to millions of TV watchers as 'Larry' on the classic sitcom Three's Company. He recently toured the country as The Wizard of Oz in the National Company of WICKED. Prior to that he appeared on Broadway in David Mamet's November directed by Joe Mantello. He has performed the solo show Boychik at New York's Theatre Four and at many venues across the US and Canada. Currently, he is serving as a guest mentor for UCPAC's ICON 2017, a singing competition in search for the best musical theatre voice. Kline will be mentoring the Audience's Save, Taye McQueen in the days leading up to the final round on December 10.
Pixie Dust Players recently announced its new home at UCPAC and premiered with a near sell-out run of Junie B. Jones, Jr. The cabaret will be led by the oldest performers. Leading up to the event, Pixie Dust will be offering classes to their younger and teenage performers to introduce newcomers to Pixie Dust and to welcome returning performers to their new home at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway.
