Kean Stage will present Barbara Cook whose silvery soprano, purity of tone, and warm presence have delighted audiences around the world for more than 50 years on Sunday October 19 at 3 p.m. in Wilkins Theatre. Cook can bring grandeur and a sense of occasion to the simplest musical gestures, but she also can turn the grandest of spaces into the most intimate cabaret. From the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and the Met (when she became the first female pop singer to be presented by the Metropolitan Opera in that company's long history), to the Café Carlyle and the recording studio, Barbara Cook makes every performance as personal as a sweet whisper among friends. She is an unmistakably American phenomenon.
Wilkins Theatre is located on Kean University's main campus at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J. Tickets are $35 Standard; $20 Senior, Student, Child and are available at the Wilkins Theatre Box Office on campus, by calling 908-737-SHOW (7469), and online at www.keanstage.com.
