Libera: April 16 at 8 pm: The British youths who make up the vocal group Libera describe themselves not as a choir but as an alternative kind of boy band. With shimmering, mystical chords, ecstatic harmonies, and a sound both ancient and modern, Libera is unlike any other group you have ever heard. Libera, made up of boys aged between 7 and 16, has been praised for its unique and deeply-moving sound, which is at once both ancient and modern. Their distinctive flowing white robes symbolize the traditional origins of their style, yet their music reaches across the generations to a new mainstream audience. Libera is currently the best-selling act of its kind, reflecting the surge of interest in choirs as a result of television shows such as Last Choir Standing and Glee. The group has recorded 10 albums for Warner Classics, with Peace, released in 2010,reaching #1 in the UK, Japanese and Philippine classical charts; in the United States, the release went to #2. Libera's video for Going Home, from their PBS special, has had over two million hits on You Tube. Tickets: $29-59
