It's almost time! Hilarious modern fairy tale "Janey Miller's World Tour" makes its world premiere next week on Nov. 5, 2015 (11/5).
After featuring the 2015 Eugene O'Neill Playwriting Conference semi-finalist in several of its festivals and readings, the Speranza Theatre Company is finally bringing Los Angeles writer John Cassel's brilliant comedy to life Nov. 5 through 14, 2015.
In the play, lovable girl-next-door Janey Miller finds herself in several unlikely situations, from winning the lottery to hopping across the globe to escape her evil stepmother, and perhaps even falling in love with a handsome prince.
"John's writing is witty, smart, and fast-paced," said director Heather Wahl. "We've had three different readings of this play and it's just a play people thoroughly enjoy...Audiences are going to love this show! They're going to spend 90 minutes laughing and simply being entertained."
The show stars Speranza vet Jenelle Sosa in the title role opposite Kevin Sebastian as Karl Philip. Taking on the play's two quick change roles and playing all of the supporting characters are Speranza company member Elyse Knight and Trey K. Blackburn.
The show is stage managed by Amy Hadam and also features lighting design by Zach Pizza, sound design by Jeff Knapp and an imaginative toy-castle-inspired set by Robert Bohn.
"If you've ever seen a child's set of wooden blocks, that's what we'll have on a larger scale," explained Wahl. "We'll have cubes, triangles, platforms, ramps, trap doors, and can make basically whatever we need! It's going to be a lot of fun for the audience to watch."
The show is making its professional world premiere thanks to a generous matching grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs. To help Speranza raise the $3,000 needed to match the grant, supporters can donate to their Indiegogo campaign and receive show tickets, autographed posters and other great perks.
